There’s nothing quite like a whirlwind trip to Los Angeles. The UCLA Women’s basketball team won their game–it was intense. The women are incredibly good athletes and watching the strategy unfold on the court is impressive. It has been a few years since I have played. I once came in 3rd in a dribble, pass, and shoot competition. I walked into the house with my trophy, my mom took one look at it and said, “Let me guess. There were only 3 of you.” She was right! I was never a strong basketball player, so I admire the women on that court all the more.

We managed to get in a couple of restaurants and took our UCLA student out with her friends for brunch. Their stories are a riot.

Travel tip for the trip: don’t try to do too much in LA. It’s spread out and the traffic makes a 12 mile drive an hour long. We made it up to Griffith observatory, which has terrific views of the city.
